The Only Way the New Indiana Jones Reboot Can Be Succesful

So the cat's outta the bag, pandora's box has been opened, the floodgates have been breached!

There is serious talk of Steven Spielberg directing a new Indiana Jones film, with Chris Pratt as the titular character. And people are freaking ....        the fuck    .....        out.

Personally I have lots of mixed feelings about it. Anyone who knows me, knows that Raiders of the Lost Ark is absolutely one of my favorite childhood films. Steven Spielberg was one of my idols as a kid. I wanted to make movies just like him. And I can say pretty easily that Raiders is still to this day, maybe the greatest adventure film ever made.

This shot is from Temple of Doom but you get the concept. He's a bad ass.

So how can they reboot this and have it work? Well there is a simple answer. Don't make it a reboot. Make it the further adventures of Indiana Jones.

If they want people to be on board for this they cannot, and I mean CANNOT, remake Raiders of the Lost Ark. This needs to be a brand new adventure with Indy.

At least for the next 7 - 10 years

Look at the James Bond or Batman Franchises. New actors take on that role every decade....

Okay so sometimes it's even less that a decade.

They don't remake the movies they just do new adventures with the same character.

And I'd argue that while he hasn't been around quite as long, Indiana Jones is just as dynamic and interesting a character. Who wouldn't want to see more adventures from him.

Pratt is honestly a good choice. I mean he's got the looks, the charm, and most importantly the comedic timing to carry the role.

My only concern is if he can carry the Indy's serious side. He has to be able to carry the line of ...

And he has to say it with the same level of earnestness and seriousness as Harrison Ford. It can't sound like a joke or a cliché. Not an easy task.... Kudos to Ford

That's the way we should do future Indiana Jones films. Every decade a new actor portrays him. But Harrison Ford will ALWAYS be the original.

If they do that AND get Spielberg to direct then I'm on board 100%.

What's your take?????
